Mold spores can remain active if the house is not treated with a mildewcide prior to power washing.

If left untreated the spores can continue to grow under the new paint film and cause premature failure.

At Painting America, Inc., we pre-treat and power wash all surfaces to be painted, for this very reason.

After the initial power washing, we let the surface dry 3-5 days before starting our prep to paint.

We advise against cleaning weeks in advance as mold can re-attach in only a few weeks time.
